আরও তথ্য যোগ করতে এই শব্দগুলো ব্যবহার হয়। Moreover/furthermore/besides সাধারণত বাক্যের শুরুতে বসে, পরে কমা।

দুই বিপরীত ভাবের মধ্যে সংযোগে but/however ব্যবহার হয়। However সাধারণত পূর্ণচ্ছেদ/সেমিকোলনের পরে আসে এবং পরে কমা বসে।

⚠️ However, but দুটোই একসাথে ব্যবহার করা ভুল — একটাই যথেষ্ট

কারণ বোঝাতে because সবচেয়ে জোরালো; since/as হালকা কারণ (বাক্যের শুরুতেও বসে); for কমা দিয়ে যোগ হয়।

কারণের ফলাফল বোঝাতে এই শব্দগুলো ব্যবহার হয়। So সংযোজক (coordinating), therefore/thus/consequently সাধারণত বাক্যের শুরুতে।

• It rained heavily. As a result, the match was cancelled.

শর্ত বোঝাতে if/unless; otherwise মানে 'নাহলে' (নেতিবাচক ফলাফলের সতর্কতা)।

• If you work hard, you will succeed.

• Work hard, otherwise you will fail.

উদ্দেশ্য বোঝাতে so that/in order that ব্যবহার হয় (বিস্তারিত Module 4-এ আছে)।

ঘটনার ক্রম বোঝাতে এই শব্দগুলো ব্যবহার হয় — meanwhile মানে 'এরই মধ্যে', afterwards মানে 'তারপর'।

বাক্যের শুরুতে বসলে পরে কমা বসে

However, Therefore, Moreover, Besides ইত্যাদি বাক্যের শুরুতে বসলে তার পরেই কমা বসাতে হয়।

but = coordinating conjunction (দুই clause এক বাক্যে জোড়ে) · however = আলাদা বাক্যের শুরুতে/সংযোগে

but দিয়ে দুই clause একই বাক্যে কমা দিয়ে জোড়া যায়; however আলাদা বাক্য হিসেবে বা সেমিকোলনের পরে বসে, কখনো সরাসরি but-এর মতো comma দিয়ে দুই independent clause জোড়ে না (আনুষ্ঠানিক লেখায়)।
