Right Form of Verbs

Sub + V1 (he/she/it হলে V1+s/es)

চিরন্তন সত্য, বৈজ্ঞানিক সত্য, অভ্যাস বোঝালে present indefinite হয়। Clue: always, regularly, daily, every day, usually, generally, often, sometimes, normally।

• The sun rises in the east.

• He goes to school every day.

• Water boils at 100°C.

⚠️ he/she/it-এর পর s/es দিতে ভুলে যাওয়া: He go ❌ → He goes ✅

Each/Every/One of/Everybody/Anybody + singular verb

Each, every, everyone, everybody, anybody, nobody, one of, either, neither — এরা দেখতে অনেক বোঝালেও verb হয় singular। 'One of the boys' মানে ছেলেদের একজন — তাই singular।

• Each of the students was present.

• One of my friends lives in Dhaka.

• Everybody wants to be happy.

⚠️ One of the boys were ❌ → was ✅

am/is/are + V1+ing

Clue: now, at present, at this moment, Look!, Listen!, Hush! — এই শব্দ থাকলে present continuous।

• He is reading now.

• Look! The boy is crying.

• At present, prices are rising.

Sub + V2 (past form)

Clue: yesterday, ago, last night/week/year, once, in 1971, long since — থাকলে past indefinite।

• He came home yesterday.

• Bangladesh became independent in 1971.

• I met him long ago.

⚠️ yesterday-র সাথে has done ❌ → did ✅

have/has + V3

Clue: just, just now, already, yet, ever, never, recently, lately — থাকলে present perfect। he/she/it → has, বাকি সব → have।

• He has just finished the work.

• I have never seen him.

• Have you ever been to Cox's Bazar?

have/has been + V1+ing (+ since/for)

কাজ আগে শুরু হয়ে এখনো চলছে + since (নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের শুরু) বা for (সময়ের ব্যাপ্তি) থাকলে present perfect continuous।

• It has been raining since morning.

• He has been reading for two hours.

• They have been living here since 2015.

⚠️ since-এর পর period বসানো: since two hours ❌ → for two hours ✅

will + V1

Clue: tomorrow, next day/week/month/year, soon, in future — থাকলে future indefinite।

• He will come tomorrow.

• We shall meet next week.

can/could/may/might/shall/should/will/would/must/need + V1

Modal verb-এর পরে সবসময় verb-এর base form বসে — কখনো s/es, ing, বা past form নয়।

• He can do the work.

• You should obey your parents.

• We must reach in time.

⚠️ He can does ❌ → He can do ✅

to + V1 · তবে with a view to / look forward to / used to (অভ্যস্ত) + V1+ing

সাধারণ to-এর পর base form। কিন্তু with a view to, look forward to, be used to, addicted to, object to — এদের to-এর পরে ing হয় (এখানে to = preposition)।

• I want to go home.

• He went to Dhaka with a view to buying books.

• I look forward to hearing from you.

⚠️ with a view to buy ❌ → with a view to buying ✅ (বোর্ডের প্রিয় ফাঁদ!)

mind/enjoy/finish/avoid/stop/keep/worth/cannot help + V1+ing

এই verb/expression-গুলোর পরে সবসময় gerund (V1+ing): mind, enjoy, finish, avoid, stop, keep on, give up, worth, cannot help, feel like।

• Would you mind opening the window?

• He enjoys playing football.

• The book is worth reading.

• I cannot help laughing.

If + present → will + V1 · If + past → would/could + V1

১ম conditional: If clause-এ present হলে মূল clause-এ will। ২য়: If clause-এ past হলে would/could + V1। ৩য়: If + had + V3 → would have + V3।

• If he comes, I will go.

• If I had money, I would buy a car.

• If you had studied, you would have passed.

⚠️ If he will come ❌ → If he comes ✅ (if-এর ভেতরে will বসে না)

It is time/It is high time + past · wish/as if/as though + past (be হলে were)

It is time, It is high time-এর পরে past form (অর্থ কিন্তু বর্তমান!)। wish, as if, as though-এর পরে past; be-verb হলে সব subject-এই were।

• It is high time we changed our habit.

• I wish I were a bird.

• He talks as if he knew everything.

⚠️ I wish I was ❌ → I wish I were ✅

had better/would rather/let/make + V1

had better, would rather, let, make (কাউকে দিয়ে করানো)-এর পরে base form (to ছাড়া)।

• You had better go now.

• I would rather die than beg.

• Let him do the work.

• He made me laugh.

be (am/is/are/was/were) + V3

Subject নিজে কাজটা করে না, কাজটা তার উপর হয় — তখন passive: be-verb + V3। Clue: by + কেউ, বা অর্থ থেকে বোঝা।

• The work was done by him.

• Rice is grown in Bangladesh.

• He was punished for his fault.

⚠️ Rice grows... ঠিক, কিন্তু 'Rice is grown by farmers' — কে করছে দেখে সিদ্ধান্ত নাও

Past perfect (had + V3) + before + past · Past + after + had + V3

দুটি অতীত কাজের আগেরটি past perfect, পরেরটি past indefinite। before-এর আগে had+V3; after-এর পরে had+V3।

• The patient had died before the doctor came.

• The doctor came after the patient had died.

⚠️ উল্টে ফেলা — মনে রাখো: আগের কাজ = had + V3

While + V1+ing / While + sub + was/were + V1+ing

while-এর পরে সরাসরি verb এলে ing হয়। while + subject এলে continuous tense হয়।

• While walking through the zoo, I saw a tiger.

• While I was walking, it started to rain.
